Dean’s Message
As Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary science, I am pleased to welcome you to this conference of research on Somali production and you will get and discuss the research information that we have made available. Today the faculty will presented five research paper prepared by teachers and two research papers from students which have been publis
hed some of them international journals. It is hoped that this conference will be a platform to gather and disseminate the latest knowledge in Somali production. Academicians, Scientist, Researchers and practitioners of agro-vet science will be able to share and discuss new findings and applications of Agriculture and Veterinary science. Jobkey is a proud institution of its recognition in research that has been conducted by its faculty and students. The University has made great efforts to raise the level of the published work by its faculty. Their publications are in reputable international journals. Finally I would like to congratulate the organizing committee for their tremendous efforts in organizing the conference, and if Allah says’ the conference will be a success.

The strength put in Agriculture and livestock production by any government determines its independence in terms of food security. Agriculture is an important economic activity in Somalia not only in terms of meeting the food needs of the population but also in terms of generating income through crop sales and agricultural labor opportunities. Roughly 50% of population’s cereal requirements is met through domestic production. Agriculture is a major component for our livelihoods in Somalia
